Two Step

Alright so im turning to the people on the forum now for this. I have been getting mellon tuned although slowly because of the lack of time to do logs. I cannot seem to get the 2 step to activate I have been back and forth with Chris about what it could be, he even sent me another map just to see and still no 2 step. The clutch switch is working as it should but still nothing. If anyone has heard anything of this or has an idea for this please let me know THANK YOU in advance-JOEYD

I believe all you have to do is make sure your Evo is on a level area and it does not "roll" put it on first gear and rev it to 5,000 rpm for stock and probably 5800 rpm for tuned. You should hear the pop pop pop sound from the exhaust and let go of the clutch. I tried it once and I can hear the pop sound. Let go of the clutch and I can feel my Evo launch foward! Hope this help, good luck

Two step is always there; just set lower (5000rpm) from the factory.
Tuner raise it up to 5500 or whatever the customer wants it set.

I obviously understand how this work I have built eclipse turbos before all those had aftermarket computers and two step. I went with a tune from Mellon he has it set at 5500 now and i can be still with no movement in 1st gear and just rev it to redline no two step. Chris seems to think it is something with the car but the clutch switch is working correctly. Just to clarify what was said the only evo's with the factory two step are the '05 and '06 model years.

I have NEVER heard of the 2step not being there. I'm not sure if the tuner can get rid of it, but it sounds like the only logical answer..

What does the car do when you hold it to the floor in gear with the clutch down?

revs to redline which was set by the tune at just over 8,000. I looked at the map sent to me and it shows the two step being there and set at 5500

2 step

Have you hooked up a scan tool to make sure all your wheel speed sensors are functioning correctly, sometimes it doesn’t set the abs light off but one sensor could be reading wrong so it won’t activate the 2 step

Actually all the USDM Evo's have them, just set higher than the regular rev limiter on the 03 and 04 models. The 05 was the first one to have it used from the factory as a way to try and save the driveline and give the dealer a way to void your warranty when the tranny fails and it isn't set as stock!

There could be something with your clutch, as you have an after market unit. Is it in first or neutral, and you can't be moving at all.

just to be clear, it's definitely not related to the tune, I provided the stock tune with his immobilizer code and it still didn't work so it has to be something mechanical.

redboosted05 did you search the forum for this problem?...surely somebody else has run into this before.

If you cant find anything else it wouldnt hurt to test each speed sensor manually, if one of the sensors is reading wrong your car will always think it is always in motion and it wont enable your 2 step

It's weird that you're having this problem..cause I am too! My 2 step worked in the fall and winter, before I got a tune, (from a different vendor). The tune is awesome, but I noticed my 2 step is also gone..I have tried on level ground, with ebrake engaged and disengaged (which I have heard it works both ways from different Evo owners)....I have not checked the clutch switch. Where is located, behind the clutch pedal or near there? I am subscribed to this thread hoping to find my issue as well as the OP's. I will probably never really launch the car anyways (just did once so far), but it would be nice to know that it functions properly...
