On my 2003 Evo I get a noise that sounds similar to brakes grinding but only happens while the cars clutch is completely let out, when I push the clutch to the floor it goes away. Before I bought the car the clutch was replaced with what i was told was an ACT heavy duty and some type of fly wheel. This is my cars only strange noise after battle a few others and this one is driving me absolutely crazy. Thanks for the help.

 

It most likely is your throw out bearing making noise. My 03 makes a little noise also when I let the clutch out in Neutral. If the car keeps driving ok and doesn't get worse I wouldn't worry about it.

 

Makes sense, why did not I think of that. BTW nice car mine is also the lovely lighting yellow (which was hated at first but now loved)
