i used a canon powershot a640 with a 4gb sd card as soon as i can get the video uploaded you can judge the camera quality and its pretty compact, it can fit in your pocket but it will be the only thing in that pocket.

I bought a tripod suction mount and put it on my roof. It gives a higher field of view.

My concern with these types, is if you go out on a normal track, me thinks the speed will just blow the freakin thing right off. I'd like to have a camera outside the car, but I don't want to destroy one testing the mount.

Hehe, trust me, I've tested this thing at high speeds. I've even tried pulling it off, it grips tighter, the more pressure is put on it. It's got release tabs though.

ah crap youtube didnt upload the whole thing, it cuts out the video at 5:15 until 5:42 and cuts out again at 5:45 without video or sound for the rest of the video and does not show my best run of the day.

Here's a video of my camera and mount test:

http://www.vimeo.com/1369738

The 2nd half of the video is an outside-of-the-car test

I finally got the "cleat" mount. Works pretty wonderfully.

You should try to use a wide angle lens on some of those inside shots so you can see more of the car.
