when I picked up my evo last week I ask the dealer when the 04's will be coming out. They said that the new ones may not come out until as late as March. And they also mentioned something about the evo being on the japanese schedule for cars (I think there 04's don't actually come out until 2004). Hope that makes sense

i am a mitsu dealer and now mitsubihsi is thinking about now bring the evo here till the end of next year with the new bodystyle. they arent shipping them for a long time. so my best bet for buyers is to take advantage of the ones u can get ahold of. they will not be making anymore with carbon fiber winge for ther rest of the year.

Just waiting for my end of the year bonus to go pick one up. They also had about 5 of them with the small wing. Looks pretty good. Still debating the wing (I'm a an old man now going on 31) and whether or not I want to be associated with the 'ricer' crowd or not. I test drove one about 2 months ago and the salesman calls me at least 1 a week( now I know why) to find out if I've bought anything yet. I'm sure they will sell at close to invoice. BTW what is invoice? I've heard everything from 26800-28000...which is it?

Thanks
Questions:
1. What dealership is this?
2. Did they have the small wing evo in white?
3. They allow test drives?

Thanks

954DRGSR,

I think the dealer is called Kendall Mitsubishi. They are located on US1 and approximately SW 80st. Yes I think they had 1 small wing evo in white. I am positive they had a small wing in blue, yellow, black, and red. They should offer test drives. I test drove a silver EVO about 2 months ago when they only had like 2 on the lot. I'm hoping they still have some by the end of the year when I go to purchase mine.

good luck

This is what I've gathered the most info on through researching. 03 shipment stops in August( i think). 04 shipment starts in February which will still be the EVO 8 body, engine, hp, etc., with minor fixes such as POSSIBLY a stronger clutch. Then and IF then in 2005 the EVO IX will come out but if not then, it will be later. In case some of you didn't know they also sold the EVO VII 2 years without changing body style, as well as the VI too(i think)
(None of this is for sure or quoted from and official Mitsu release so dont take it as that)

Back to the point. Don't settle for markups, try not to settle for sticker. Lots of places overstocked and are.....TEST DRIVING THEM. get one quick before rice boy gets to yours and drives the hell out of it just to say he did. And go for invoice. Shouldn't be that hard.

Go for way under invoice. Let's face it, we think the evo is a great car, but it's not catching on, and there is no demand for it. They will be practically giving them away soon, and I would not be surprised if the car has a two or three year run in the US before it's gone. Major complaint from people I know is the lack of luxury and the boy racer look...We think it's wonderful, but it will never be a "cache" car. I paid MSRP...WAY too much!!

I love the car but I think you may be right. If they don't start moving them why should they continue to import them? There are a few select enthusiasts that want it but if no one else does why bother. I would like to see the 6 speed come here before it goes away.

BTW, I paid $32,000 before TT&L on March 20th in New York. Should have waited but after waiting 10 years since the GVR4 I couldn't wait another day.

I got mine for $27750 last week (8-28) with the carbon wing and sunroof. I purchased it at an Atlanta area dealership. They were also allowing test drives in a silver Evo. I wouldn’t touch that one with a 10 foot pole. I know how we drove it and we're fairly conservative. I posted the details of my purchase in the "$1500 under invoice" thread here .

I would also have to disagree with Lightsped's account of the number of Evo's that may be found in ATL. I know there were two at Marietta Mitsu the week before last and five at Rick Case in Duluth.

I wish all of you shoppers the best of luck. Be strong and be confident in the fact that you have the upper hand in this transaction. The Evo's are just not moving that quick.

Has anyone seen any TV adds for the Evo? I haven't. They seem to run a WRX spot on Speed every hour. I wonder if this has something to do with the Evo's problems.

Best wishes,
F86sabre
