I'm picking up my evo today and I'm wondering about break in type mods that should be done to preserve the car. Here's what I'm considering and the reasons why.
1. flushing the oil and refilling with non-synthetic for the first 500 miles. then switching back to mobile 1.
When I rebuilt the engine in my GSX, I first used non-synthetic to clean it out and to seat the bearings and rings and this worked great.
2. replacing the valve cover breather with a breather filter and catch can
I don't want oil film clogging up the turbo, intercooler, and pipes reducing their efficiency.
3. replacing all the vacuum lines with zip tied silicon lines
This will eliminate one of the main causes of vacuum leaks.
4. relocating the battery to the back of the car.
This will free up room, help with weight transfer, and keep the battery from engine heat that will reduce it's lifespan.
These are basically all the type of stuff that I wished had been properly done on my GSX when I bought it with 90K on the odometer. What do you guys think?

Sounds like you have got a handle on the break-in mods. I will not comment on the synthetic oil issue. There are two schools of thought here and I'll not open that can of worms. It's a personal decision.
