Brand new Evo owner with Q's
Okay, the subject line says I'm a new Evo owner. had it for about 1 month and have about 1,200 miles on it. I am curious about upgrades. I have the factory warrantee and another on top of it. What should be my very first upgrade to this car? I was thinking probably a boost gauge, but are there any intake/exhaust or other things that can be done before???
take this advice: first learn how to drive the car before you start to put aftermakrket products.
The car has more than enough power for no IMO.
Learn how to handle the car first and than play with it more as you become more used to the cars capablity.
A good driver is can outperform a person with a more powerful car but lacking in driving skills.

damn...sorry I don't know how to use correct grammer. LOL
I meant to say, a good driver is capable of out handling and out powering a person with a faster car with a bad driver.
does that make sense?

Go to www.buschurracing.com. They have stage upgrades. Even if you don't use their products it gives you an idea of the steps. My theory is start with the intake then the exhaust. Then kinda work your way back and forth between the intake and the exhaust through the engine. Whatever you do to increase intake, fuel air, you should have an increase in getting rid of the crap when your done with it.
That depends how much you love the car... If it's pure launch speed you're after, I find revving to 3500, holding for at least a second to let the turbo spool, then side stepping the clutch gets a very good launch. Lots of smoke, all 4 wheels spinning, but it gets grip quickly, and you're off.
Otherwise, I rev to 3500, but don't let the turbo spool, then feather the clutch a bit. It bogs down at first, but is gentler on the drivetrain and the tyres. By the time I've totally let go of the clutch, it's spooled anyway.
