Evo undercoating...

what's up with the stuff? On my RS it's just like this oilly nasty stuff... every other car I have seen has a hardened undercoating on it... is it just on the RS's or on all of them? Wouldn't it be a better idea to get the hardened stuff?

Mine also has it and I also wondered the same thing when I first bought it. It's normal.

I thought it was greasy sludgy crap sprayed down the car from an oil leak and a tcase leak I had a while back. Didn't know it was supposed to be that way.

LOL, I got that crap all over me.

But then I start wiping all that stuff off and the some guy told me it was actual protectant for the underside of the car.

Then I proceeded to take the sludge from the towel and put it back on the car....... LOL.

I have it too. I'm sure it has a valid purpose being there, maybe it keeps everything from rusting or something. It's interesting that after almost 3 years of constant driving in wet and dusty conditions it still looks and feels fresh. And yes I did get it in my hair .
