how much boost can you run with 93 octane with a good tune as opposed to 91 octane?

HERE are my 2cents -

With the complexity of the engine and the otherwise high boost of the Evo, there should be enough of a diff between 91, and 93, that it should be noticeable; so I dont think its "just in your head".

Also, as far as which brand to use, many years ago, i used to work for Exxon as a motor-oils researcher. My supervisor (a Phd, and somethin like 30 years in the field) always told me that most gas stations (at least in NY/NJ) buy their gas from the same wholesaler or supplier (as very few have their own oil fields and refineries), so he always stressed that i should just fill up at the cheapest possible ACME gas station... but most of us, including me, are label wh0res, thinking that the brand name is always better.... so Mobil, Shell, Mercedes and Sony, here i come.

P.S. In NYC, 93oct is $4.15 now, but was $4.55 two weeks ago (and 91oct is usually only 4-5 cents less).

3.66 a gallon for 93 here, and it seems to be on it's way down. i've seen that price at walmart so far, but shell, chevron, and others aren't too far behind. all we have here is 93...i didn't know there was a lower grade of premium until i started posting here lol i'd never heard of 91. every once in a while you can find one gas station somewhere with 92, but that's rare.

The location of this station may be one of the reasons its so expensive though, everything in Los Altos is. Last time I was there which was about a month ago 93 was 5.90 something and 100 was 7.90 something

To the guy asking about this station, I just went back yesterday and found that its under new management! SUCKS! no more 93 or 100, just 87, 89, 91 like always... crap that was the spot too, right by my house now I have to drive to redwood city to fill up.
