Im with SXHAWNN on this one..

Yup he did offer to pay for it but then man relax a bit! I know im not the person who wud relax myself if this happened to me.. I beat the **** outta anything that even gets food wrap into my car!

Its just that the seat hole wont make a difference in the way the car handles or drives.. it can wait. Be nice tell ur dad u'll take care of it! Im sure uve pooped in the back seat of his car like a thousand times or maybe spilled like everything u ever drank back then when u were a kid!

Im sure the fix shouldn't be to expensive of a job..

Everybody takes things for granted in life. Think of it this way. U still drive an evo with or without that cig burn. But it still sucks that u have it there. I smoke in my car. Hell my GF gave me a burn mark the very first week. Though it wasn't a hole. I was going to give her **** but it still wasn't going to fix itself.

Considering that your father raised you and payed $hitload of money for you already, and also considering the fact that having a hole in your seat does not affect your driving ability of the car, I would not personally call him stupid Considering that he is your own father.

+1 to both of you.

Well dads are dads and we will always be their children. There are times when we do not want to be their child and times I believe they do not want to be our father (at least it seemed at times in my case). My father and I have taken a long and winding road to get to where we are today. Today there is a love and possibly even a glimmer of respect. I am lucky to still have my father to speak with and as before long take him for his first ride in an Evo (if his heart can still take it).

I bought my Evo with some evidence that smoking was done in the car. A few small burn marks and a smell. I bought some stuff that took the smell away, now there is a slight eucalyptus smell but it is fresher and better than the cigarette smell. The burn marks will be taken care of as time passes through replacement parts, but for now I enjoy the fact that I am able to own and drive an Evo. So much is taken for granted these days, I guess that comes with money in some cases from posts I have seen on the boards.

To the OP with how my relationship was with my father throughout life I might think about splitting the cost with him or just take care of it myself if he had the money to fix it. Being that my father does not have that sort of money I would fix it myself and just ask him to please not smoke again in the car that maybe we could pull over from time to time and he could have a smoke, or jokingly ask him if he needed his potty break again for the tenth time.

I would be upset that it happened but those things can always be fixed. It is the relationship that might not be able to be fixed or if it can may take years to start to heal.

Raist

when you say something on a forum...on the internet...in public view, there's no such thing as "your business" or anybody's "business" for that matter. and apparently most of the 18-21 year olds on here have a hell of a lot more respect for elders than you, the 25 year old, do. so grow the **** up

as for the op's question, i say you just deal with it. no disrespect or anything but it really is only a burn. pictures would help because i work in detailing and i know what can be fixed and what can't but my first hunch would be to just leave it...save your dad the hassle

I seem to remember, as a kid, I got bubblegum on the seat of my dad's car. Then it sat in the hot texas heat and got all gooey.

Actually I don't even remember doing it because I was too young to remember all the details -- I just remember my dad yelling something like "look what you did!" while trying to pull a stringy pink blob from the seat.

Then about two years ago my father-in-law got into our Montero Sport and slammed the door shut really hard (he's a big burly guy) and the back window completely blew out and glass went everywhere...

Then just last week I was pulling into a parking spot and got too close to the curb and completely shattered my CF front lip. Broke it right in two. Sucks. I guess I'll have to buy a new one now (only this time a polyeurethane one) and be more careful in the future.

There is no point to this story other than things happen when you drive a car and only sometimes is it the owner's fault.

1. Go get it fixed.
2. Have your Dad pay for it.
3. Enjoy your Evo

Nough said, close thread.
