Plans for m Evo
Plans for m Evo
Brand new, 2003 Silver Evolution. Here are my plans for it:
Buschur Turbo Back Exhaust
Greddy E-Manage with Profec E01 Boost Controller/E manage control unit
Pruven Intercooler Kit,
Buschur Plumbing
800cc injectors
HKS 272 cams
forcedperformance Green Turbo w/hks or other intake manifold.
Ported stock cast iron manifold (Having studied turbo cars for years, cast iron is better for turbo cars that are dailys due to the longevity issues headers have)
HKS Head gasket
Clutch masters Stage 3 clutch
Tein Flex w/EDFC
Pruven brake rotors, upgraded brake fluid with SS lines and EBC green pads for street use (low dust) and Ferodo's for everything else.
A pillar gauge pod with knock sensor/EGT, column mount boost gauge
Im probably going to do the interior as an all business, adding only an alpine head unit, 6.5" components with my current 5 channel soundstream 405s amp and 2 eclipse 12" subwoofers, and they will be removable.
The car is a daily driver and aside from my motorcycle is my only means of transportation, needs to be at least rebuildable upon destruction, i.e., no rods removing themselves from the block.
As far as the suspension, the teins will do fine, and I plan on adding a nicer set of braces and a heavy rear sway bar.
Im just wondering what everyone else is doing, how much they've spent so far and the results they are having. Im after a total package, and the cams are probably one of the biggest concerns I have.
Miss anything?

I think I suckered myself into thinking it would be noticeably faster due to all the magazine articles, I have even thought of selling for something with torque down low. Should I give it a few mods before throwing in the towel.
parker, are you asking or telling? If asking, absolutely. The car is a completely different animal with just an exhaust and an ECU upgrade. I've driven and ridden in cars with very little mods, and that feeling of the car laying flat after 5K is completely the stockers problem, by all means! It is faster than 90% of the cars that the average person can afford, and is a better car. If you're comparing it to cars like a viper, vette or anything, maybe straight line it wont do as well, but coming from a guy who rides a 9 sec bike, its FAST! Mod it. Enjoy it. Torque is fun, but horsepower wins races.
The car is quick but not a neck snapper stock...But it has everything I want except for the neck snap. If I have to pay 29k for the car and 5k for the parts...Ill get my cake and eat it too. Trust me, I have driven too many mustangs and camaros to realize how awesome of a car the Evo is.
