Owning an Evo in Canada
Frustrating!! Here is one of the world's greatest cars and no one here in British Columbia knows what to do with it. Parts can be found through the web and I am very greatful to you guys here. Trying to find someone to diagnose problems such as drivetrain noises etc. is painful. The local DSM dealer won't have anything to do with this car as the parts guys haven't ever heard of an EVO before, even after explaining what other cars used the same parts. They wouldn't even order a clutch fork in for me as they said " it isn't the same car". W5M33,,,,,what's that? So.... here's to the DSM forums and all their help. Thanks

I've had the Evo1 for about 2months now. What a blast!! You are right though, this forum is one of the best out there and I would recommend it to anyone here in Canada. Once again, thanks for the help guys.

Not quite hicksville...but close. It's just that Canada just "reinvented " their bumper law to comform to the u.s. so we can now start getting V111s now. We can import '93 or older from Japan though.
Picture of Vancouver, in BC.

I bet you there are no more then a few handfulls of Evo 8's and 9's accross Canada. It's just been the past month that they were legal for import, and they were never sold here. We do have the X though.
There were roughly 12 VIIIs that made it into the country before the Evo was blacklisted.
You drive a 15 year old import that was never released here, it shouldn't be surprising that the average shop can't deal with it. I would suggest finding an import specialty shop and seeing if they can help you out. Vancouver has to be 10 times better than Calgary as far as the import scene goes.

If you live in BC...I don't see why you can't just bring it down to Washington or something to have it serviced at a US Mitsu dealer....Its not that long a drive...you should make a weekend out of it!
