Street "Cred"

Scored an intercooler and went for the install. It went in smoothly, but I blew the short hoses I had on hand and had to limp the Evo back home in reverse (a bit embarrassing when some neighbors were watching). Had to reuse 1 of the stock hoses and cut up another Mitshimoto hose that was laying around. Had to motivate the bumper back on and remove the air scoops to the oil cooler and the other one on the opposite side. At the end of the day, way better that stock and I am very happy with the install.

Installed poly shifter cable and base shifter bushings, they really do make a big difference. 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th feels like I'm reloading a bolt action rifle. So satisfying

Finally made the time to swap out the spark plugs (3+ years old), take it for a test drive and found the water feed to the turbo had bursted. Pinhole in the middle of the aluminum tube somehow. 20$ replacement but an additional week of downtime, great.

Four years after initial coating, I did a second coat of Durabak in the RS trunk. Didn't need it really, but I had some stains from carrying transmissions in there and scrubbing didn't get them out completely. Took the opportunity to do the strut towers this time too.

Deciding if I should go for a 2.4 or stay with my 2.0 rebuild.... Car will stay on the stock turbo // upgraded to a HTA71 some day..

Logic tells me to stay 2.0 unless I want to be breaking drive-train stuff on a 2.4..

Did an oil change. Noticed the lower radiator hose was pushed back 1/4" so of course I fooled with it, slid it back up and put the clamp fully ahead of the knurl.
Did some pull ups on the first half of the light bar, did some planning for finishing this weekend.
Drive home and blew the f'ing radiator hose off. Guess I'm getting screw clamps tomorrow, but just reused the stock spring clamp again for now, hope it stays on long enough to get to work tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry too much about the 2.4 if all you are planning is a HTA71. Shouldn't be that hard on the drivetrain on that turbo. The torque of a 2.4 is pretty nice not going to lie. But I kind of wish I would have stayed a 2.0
