Headlight Modification Question

Hello guys. I wanted to know if anyone had removed the amber part of the stock evo headlights and replaced them with clear/white reflectors? I know that evodave removes the amber and blacks everything out on the inside, but I wanted to know if anyone has seen/has pics of the amber part removed and replaced with white/clear reflector.

Just pull the lense apart, take out the amber insert and you'll have a solid chrome headlight. The whole headlight is crhome. The amber is just an insert that pops out.

I've replaced the amber part, and painted the upper and lower part of the lower section in flat black. Mine's european, so that used to be the indicator. Changed from indicator to position light, and it looks "almost" like a led-eqqiped audi. Different, at least...

Me either. I bought an evo with them and never liked them. I painted a set on my first evo black all the way around, then put the amber lense back in. It darkened the amber and looked pretty good actually.

If youre headlights are solid chrome, you need to have an amber or red bulb that flashes the turn signal.

Some guys put them in an oven to soften the glue. That idea kind of scares me. I used a heat gun from my work. Slowly heat up the glue and pry the two pieces apart very slowly.

No, do not use a soldering iron. The heat gun is like a super hair dryer with temps up too 1000 degrees F.

It's about $25 at Wal-mart.

Dont use a soldering iron. Two completely different things. The gun will allow you to focus the heat on the glue and not the entire lense. Just be careful of your heat levels. If you focus the heat on one spot for too long with a heat gun, you'll melt the plastic.

When youre done, put the two back together and heat the glue up again and push the two together. The glue will bond together. If done right, you wont have any leaking problems.
