What Are My Chances?
When I was looking at STIs (don't hate, I got an Evo in the end), there was an '05 that was similar miles & price. After an hour, I had them under $24K. But like everyone sez, you really have to be prepared to walk away. If they even smell that you're jones'ing for that car right then and there, they'll know they can get more out of you. And +1 for having financing lined up.
Right now dealers are trying anything they can to get some sales moving. About the only thing moving off the lots right now are the cars that get 30+ MPG in the city.
It also depends on the area you live in. How many people in that area know about Evos and can afford one. If the numbers are low you have a good chance. If the dealership knows less about the Evo than you, you have an even better chance. Not all dealers know what the cars are or what they can be worth. I still say give it a chance what is the worst they can do.

You know, when I first was looking to buy my Evo, I almost bought one from a Honda dealership in Manassas. It was an 06 Evo IX 45k miles for $29k. I got a coupon in the mail for like $4000 off any used car at the Honda dealership. It's one of those scam things to get people to go to the dealership, but I wanted to see what they would say. So I test drove the car, and I was like, I got this coupon thing for $4k off any used car. They basically laughed in my face. But as the days went by, I kept an eye on the car, and it still wasn't selling, every week, the car price lowered by $1k. So in a month, when I went back, it was at the $25k I would have bought it at. But at that point I was going to ask for another $4k off, haha. But if they only took the offer back then, they would have sold it a month earlier. And I heard in the end, they ended up auctioning it off for around $22k.
You will probaly hear several times, "we have more than that in the car!" The salesman may be telling the truth and tell you to pound sand or he will go to his manager time and time again until you both decide on a fair price.
My guess would be they put $20,500 into the car, plus any other bills (i.e: shop bill, detail bill, dealer pack, and maybe a windshield if needed)
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Theres a GG IX round me for $23,500. I went to the dealer and tried negotiating it down to $22K and they wouldnt budge. car only has 26K on it and is CLEAN!!! With the way the economy is now you would thik dealers just want to sell sell sell. some dealers just don't want to negotiate.
Went car shopping for my wife this past weekend and looked at a brand new 08 Altima 3.5 SE with every bell and whistle that had a sticker price of $32K. An hour later we were down to $22,315 plus TTL. While it is no Evo, deals are everywhere. It will be dependent on the dealer and how bad they want to deal. The odds are in your favor as it is a buyer's market, use that to your fullest advantage... Low ball em' and walk, they'll call back. If not, the joy is always in the hunt. Good luck.
