been heavily modding my evo latley. just got my cams done the other day and have start to tune with 4ws. when im done i should be around 370whp. however i have a question about the ix mr tranny. how much power can the tranny hold? iv herd 450 but not completlly sure how much.

I've heard of people drag racing on it with up to 600whp. I think that's what it was. Anyways, it was a bit higher than 400 and they didn't have any problems. I read that's it has more to do with road racing with higher power levels and they're in a specific gear for extended periods of time (especially 4th gear).

I'm not an expert, just what I've read.

 

There is a big thread on the MR tranny. The jist of it is that extended time in 4th gear is not good in road racing conditions over an unknown period of time. You can get TRE to beef up the tranny and then get a cooler built for it. Then it should last...longer

 

it's about 400 ft lb of torque and that's it...if your going past that then the tranny needs to be beefed up or go with an 5 speed as another option...
