Launch Control on my 05 but never flashed WTF?

I'm in my car at the mall waiting fir my wife and kids, I decided to pretend I'm gonna launch, when I pressed the clutch down and shifted in first, I noticed the rpm bounces at 5000.
I thought launch control was only a flash thing???
My car is 100 percent stock, never ever modded or flashed,I'm the original owner..

Can someone explain this

Oh she's an 05 MR

Are you sure? I thought it was only a flash thing, and it is 5000rpm that it bounces at on my car not 6000rpm like yours.

By the way it took me almost 4 years to realize this

It's like that from the factory. Mines 100% stock too and I have it. I think its closer to 5500 RPM's though. I could be wrong, I never launch so...

If I remember correctly '05 was the first year they did it from the factory. '03-'04 didn't have it. Another benefit of the last year for the VIII's

Actually the 03-04 models have it however it is set higher than the regular rev limiter (7900 I think) if you get into ECU Flash and find the stationary rev limiter setting and set it to 5500 on the 03-04 models you will have a two step (launch controller). The stock setting is 5500 rpm however most tachs on factory cars are off by a little bit. If you log it while hitting the two step it should be right at 5500 if you are on a stock 05 tune. Just FYI it was put on so Mitsu could offer the 10 year/ 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. it was supposed to help save the tranny and transfer case however we all know the stock clutch did a better job of protecting those parts! Let me know if I can help anyone.

LOL thanks my family has been bouncing this car back and forth for about 25 years. My dad bought it from a farmers field in NC and we have been rockin it ever since. As far as the two step if you have a tactrix cable and a laptop you can set yours up on your 03-04 models easy.
