If I was cruising at plus boost on the freeway, I'd give it at least three minutes. For a few short bursts, a bit less.
I used that formula on my Celica AllTrac, and it seemed to work out okay for 14 years. The Celica had an air/liquid intercooler, instead of the air/air system on the EVO, but if you leave the spraybar in "auto" the same numbers ought to work.
But the main thing is to keep up your oil changes. Since the turbo uses the same oil as the engine, you need to keep clean synth oil to keep the turbo bearings spinning. Since the turbo spins a lot faster than the engine, it will eat itself faster if it's not lubed properly.
