If only thing were this easy. Spraying the wheel wells does almost nothing. Salt gets into every nook in the undercarriage.

If you really get under an EVO there is not many "Nooks" (Im under mine quite a bit). Yea it can attack control arms, and the sub frame but all that can be fixed easy enough (Sanded down and undercoated).

If you look at the uni body it self its actually very solid and coated well with really no wierd places for water to sit.

Worse rust spot on the EVO is the damn rear bumper. Fixed mine ages ago

I've been fighting salt-generated automotive rust for almost 30 years. Having tried every prevention method under the sun, there's only one way to prevent salt-driven rust - not driving the car in salt. Every time a minute spec of the undercoating is dislodged and the paint is chipped by a rock or any other road anomaly, salt will begin to generate rust in its place. This may take many years to show to the eye, but one can rest assured that the damage is there. While there are worse undercarriages than ours, it's foolish to think that salt won't lodge itself in every available spot.

If you feel like you can repair salt damage, then more power to you. Really. I've yet to see it done in full without a complete disassembly and a very healthy budget. This is very common in Upstate NY. A guy decides to work on his car after x years of ownership and discovers that his floor is rusted through in spots and more, much more. Quite a few folks in these parts won't even consider a shell from our area and travel to buy one from a salt-free state.

True. The area under the mounting points for the rear crash begins to rust almost immediately. The front isn't great, either.

My Evo is not going to see any snow. I have more than one car so its easy to just put the Evo away for storage. The underbody coating on the Evo's is also HORRIBLE. Yes these cars are made for snow, however they weren't coated properly to deal with excessive amounts of NaCl. Any Evo thats seen a decent amount of salty road conditions has serious rust problems underneath (unless they were professionally undercoated). I despise rust so I just wait until spring

Leaving salt on your car can play hell. Do yourself a favor and spray that crap off every chance you get!!

i bought my EVO to drive all year, thats what its built for. salt isn't going to kill your car if you take care of it.

its a very fun car to drive in the winter, with the right tires on you can go threw just about anything.
its hilarious to see the look on peoples faces after they tried, and failed, to get threw an unplowed street only to see this thing with a wing cruise by like nothings wrong.

Evo 8 + Blizzaks = good up to 8" of snow. After that it starts plowing to the point where it doesn't want to move real well.
