Running Sparco Harness Bar - How to keep rear passeners safe?

Hey guys,

I am looking into the Sparco harness bar and although I do not take rear passengers normally, I do maybe once every few months and I don't want them hurt in case of an accident. Would wrapping the bar with race-grade padding prevent this from happening? How safe - or unsafe - would this be?

I'm thinking of something like this (padding - no fire extinguisher please )

I would say no. This is why cages are not recommended for street driving.

Give them a helmet

Wear a helmet/mouth piece to avoid cracking the skull, teeth or facial reconstruction

haha, damn I really don't wanna carry extra helmets!!! ...though I do have enough trunk space to do it...

Uh...this stinks. I really want to use the harness bar for a camera/video mount as well as adding some structural benefits. Why do they even sell the padding material then?

yup hey alvin just get the harness bar and get a floor bar and its perfect, the rear passengers can feel like they are on a train or bus with their hand on the bar and foot on the bar.

Yea that fire extinguisher is horribly placed, the driver would probably have turned into a smoldering log by the time he manages to get it out.
You can put your passengers in the trunk.

make sure they wearing the seat belts always.
If they will did go that far further, with the belts on, then the least you have to worry is the harness bar injury.
But for the record i do not like passengers when any kinda brace is installed in the car. Even the floor bar.

if you want to be racy then you shouldnt have a back seats at all.

Harness Bar = No rear seat passengers.

Your friends can become your enemies in court when their face has been smashed on a aftermarket steel bar that you installed in your car.

I dont see the harm in it as long as there holding on to the bar really tight.

Hey its better than flying through the middle and on through the front windshield right?

But i wouldnt take people in the backseat if your going over 80+ mph

if you are then surround it with a polyethylene foam cylinder *under $20*
