Need Help - Buying an EVO VIII tomorrow

hi:
cpl question here, plz help:

1).
i am going to buy a 2003 Lancer EVO VIII tomorrow.
i am going to be paying $35K out the door (financed, 5.5% interest, around 560$/month.

is this a good deal?

2).
I've read some postings regarding problems with EVO VIII like rusting and the insulation recall problem. will the evo that i am going to buy tomorrow have the same kinda problem, especially the recall-related problems?
if there are still more recall problems, please let me know.

3).
This is gonna be my first turbocharged car. i currently drive an rsx type s. i want to get a 4 door sedan with really good performance, in my case, STi & EVO. You know which one already i am going with.
so, as a newbie in turbo-ed car, please give me some advice or ideas about how to threat the car, cooling down, etc etc that i might not be aware.

thanks everyone for the help in advance.
i really look forward to pick up that EVO tomorrow.

-G

Not too bad a deal i suppose. Im only paying 360 a month however, since i put 15k down and got cosigned with my mom. But otherwise, you can argue down to 4.9 % as I did. Just keep on asking for lower percents and they'll just give it to you suppose. Dont bother with the 7 year whatever warrenty, if you plan on modding or whatnot or whatever. Its a japanese car, and it will probably survive to the 8th year and then crap out.

I paid 33k out the door. Mainly because i got the car before the dealer put their "Dealer special" which is like a crappy wax and a crappy underbody anti rust coat. I plan on getting the anti rust tho later from another place.
I also didnt get thier VIN thing in the windows. I mean i have ful coverage and adding that would only take 6 dollars off my insurance. Dunno anything about problems ATM as i just got it a couple days ago, but im sure if you bring up the problems you might be able to haggle a little bit more off the price.

Dunno much about turbo care, i would like to hear aobut that too.

But on the deal, i think its pretty good, probably the mark up is stuff they actually put into the car even though it might be overcharged. I dunno about the 560 a month though, Can you put more money down? That numberjust seems pretty burdening imho. I would have ended up paying 2030 dollars in interest money by the time i paid it off.

1) That's too much, IMO. I got mine 3 months ago for MSRP. Unless you're upside down on a trade in, it's too much.

2) See the thread that was started about Evo owners with no problems. My bet is there's more of 'us' without problems than those with. Every car has the possibility of having problems. Is the Evo more prone than others? Maybe, maybe not. You have to be comfortable with you decision on this one. Do some research and remember, it's the internet.

3) Search this site. Those questions have been answered a dozen times.

Good Luck, and have fun with your Evo!

fyi,
i have 13K left on my rsx and they agreed to pay $13K for it.
i will be putting down 1000$. that's prolly why the monthly fee is $560. i am sure it will be lower if i put like 5-10K.

tx for the help so far.

35k is too high... get the exact prices, don't deal with "OTD" pricing... get a breakdown... what's the selling price, what's tax, title, blah blah...

There is no rust issue on the car. The recall is not a big deal.

Drive it like you mean it!!

As i understand it, "out the door" include taxes, registration etc. Different states have different tax rates, it's hard to compare across the board. Hmm, but $35k does seem a little high. I would agree with everyone else to ask for a breakdown.

ytsejam, Conglat on your new Evo.

Don't worry about all the post regarding overpaid or issues on Evo.

Relax and sleep well tonight. Wake up early and pick up your new car.

Break in properly and if you have extra $$, then plan for some upgrades later.

Dont boost the car (meaning if you here the turbo, your boosting) when its cold. I said the statement in the () because its your first turbo.

Dont go over 5k in the first 600 miles. Let it run for about 5 minutes with the a/c ON before you turn it off. You may want to put a turbo timer on it so you can leave the car while its cooling.

Conrats

$32,710.28 Price ( WAY OVER invoice)
7.00% assumes tax rate
$2,289.72 tax
$35,000.00 OTD
$1,000.00 Down
$34,000.00 Financed
5.50%
60 $649.44 $38,966.37
72 $555.49 $39,995.15
84 $488.58 $41,040.84

I'm assuming you're doing a 72 month loan? also with a 13k trade in, that knocks down the cost as well.
Make some phone calls and you could save yourself about $5,000.00!

$29,800.00
6.25% what is tax rate there?
$1,862.50
$31,662.50 OTD +/- Registration
$1,500.00 Down
$30,162.50
6.00%
60 $583.13 $34,987.54
72 $499.88 $35,991.34
84 $440.63 $37,012.96

i'd love to make phone calls, so far i've compared 2 dealerships' price. the other one has $15K. dealer markup, imagine that?

anyways i don't have to pay any markup price.

the problem here is i am cosigning with my brother, i make good $$$ but my credit is not that great. he lives 25 miles away from me and i don;t think that he;d like to go dealer hopping with me.

The spring spacers are rubber spacers that mitsu put between the springs to raise the height of the car for shipping

Its pretty dangerous to drive with these in and ride will be very bouncy with them in
