^^ It is. It's all about who you deal with.

You can change the shift knob and if anything mechanical goes wrong, they're going to find some BS reason (you race, you dump the clutch, etc, etc) that you should have to pay.

I gave up on warranty a long time ago.

I guess you just have to have connections at the local Mitsu dealer like I do

Well obviously most of us are speaking in generalities. Your "hookup" is definitely not the norm, whereas getting denied on almost any claim, is the norm.

We have a good dealership here in SoCal as well. Note, thats ONE dealership out of the ~20-25 that don't suck!

Well it's not the dealer that you have to get on you side, it the district service rep/manager for Mitsubishi. Mine started out being a hardass, but then we sopke for about an hour about all the mitsu cars that I had. He looked at how clean my car was and he has been cool every since.

Service dept at my dealership tried to sell me on a turbo timer....installed for $550 (WTF?). That probably wouldn't void my warranty, but who knows...

+1 btw I have a LIFETIME unlimited miles powertrain warranty from the Subaru Stealership for my Evo! sucks though that I have to get the tires rotated at the shop along with oil changes to keep the warranty intact.

I've had my snyncro's changed, new T-case, new calipers, new climate control, new injector seals, and a new igntion set all done under warranty. I've got Turbo back exhuast, test pipe, wideband, K&N drop-in, MR struts w/ swift spec r's, and haven't had a problem. It all depends on the Dealership.
