dyno dynamics HP drivetrain loss

Can someone tell me how much hp is lost through the drivetrain when using a dyno dynamics? How much would say 283 AWHP equal to at the crank?

*oops posted in wrong section*

i have no clue what DD is in your case but generaly 15% is a safe number for drivetrain loss comes out to be 325 ish
If your speaking of the particular dyno it will not change your actual drivetrain loss even tho diferent dynos read different numbers

On a DD here in the cities, a friends stock Evo IX baselined at 227whp / 227wtq. You can do the math.

Hi mate,
here in the uk nearly all the evo community benchmarks our evo's on DD rollers. We have had engines on engine dyno's then on DD rollers and the conversion figure is 24%.
I think we only have 2 dynojets in the country but we find the conversion is 15% between the two.
283 AWHP is 372bhp so drivetrain loss is 89bhp
Converting 283 it would be 333 on a dynojet.
hope that helps mate.

^ this is great info. of the hundreds of posts and theories on this Forum, on the differences between a DD, mustang or DynoJet, this is the only post where the writer actually states in raw #'s the differences between readouts.
good job getting to the point, and not merely circling about and trying to guess

On the MLR in the UK there has been several examples of engines going from SuperFlow engine dyno to a DD. Engine HP was about 24% off from ATW on the DD. Keep in mind though, many DD operators don't run their DD's in Shootout mode which is the only way to guarantee that a correction factor isn't being used.

All DD's in the UK are run in Shootout mode and you get all the details and parameters of the run printed on the dyno sheet which is how it should be.

Ryan has actually been on this site for awhile and just recently joined the Forged Performance ranks. I see that you own a 350 so I'm sure you have heard of them since that is their speciality.

When I had my fairly stock Evo dynoed on a DD I only put down 219 awhp. After installing my new cams and intercooler I dynoed on the same dyno at 309 awhp, but then again Forged Performance's DD is known as the heartbreaker. LOL.

Mine does 315awhp and 330ft/lb on DD in shoot 44 on 93 pump. Most i've seen on a stock ix turbo is 340awhp on 93 pump in shoot44.

As a frame of comparison the JDM Nissan GTRs are doing about 390 whp on the local DD. Since they are rated at 480PS from factory, the correction factor is about 23%.

Drivetrain loss is usually between 15-26%.. it all depends on the calibration of the dyno.

But seriously, don't get too caught up in the numbers. Dyno is just a tool to fine tune your vehicle

^ agreed 100%, but people still wanna know how much power their mods added.

meaning they never ran the bone stock car on the dyno, they just assume its the 286/289 (at the crank) that the factory quotes. so after some mods, they put it on the DynoJet and it says 330/320. yet they put it on the DD or Mustang, and it shows 298/290....
hence a bunch of Q's arise in their minds; like - "hey, I dont wanna go home,, or to an Evo meet, and tell my buddies that after spendin $2000 on mods, i only make 298hp, i wanna tell everyone i made 330awhp, which is 100 more than stock".... u get what im saying ??

Dynodynamics uncorrected can be heart breakers.

however if the op uses "control X" the track is a heart breaker.

Looks like your op didn't correct. You could expect as high as 320 on a DJ.
