bad cold starts, fan belt noise, door locks frozen, windshield defroster seems to blow absolutly no heat. so i only drive it when it's "warm" (-10 C or warmer)

Not really; not much can get in with the stock shield in place.

Does anyone use a block heater? I have a magnetic one that sticks to the oil pan but the undertray prevents me from using it. I heard you can get ones that stick in the oil dipstick hole? Or ones that are installed in the coolant hoses and warm the engine coolant? Ideas? Was -40 here the other day. I wouldn't subject my evo to a start in that without preheat.

I knew it. Due to the below zero temps today, my car would not turn over while it was at work outside.

I just replaced my battery last year and I will NEVER run another mini battery again after this one. When I align my car at work and just leave it in the acc position, it just about kills it at the end.

I ran a jumper pack and it would not turn over at all. So I then ran a charger out to my car with an extension cord and let it sit for an hour on the lowest setting(trickle), and took another stab at it. It took quite a while to get her to turn over and to get her to stay on.

There is nothing more miserable than spending money on mini batteries every year. Last year when my mini went out on me, it took out my O2 sensor, and my TT.

As soon as the weather breaks, i'm running a full size to the trunk.

FWIW, it was an AMS battery.

Well, it was -24F (actual temp) today and the mini-battery did not let me down! Overall my car is doing very well in the cold. The cams/injectors are causing a few minor issues, but nothing too big of a deal once the engine gets some heat into it.

Sounds normal. One of the drawbacks for a MBC is as the weather/temps change so does their setting.

mine decided not to start yesterday due to the extreme cold. I tried jumping and everything. It seems as though I have no power issues as my lights and stereo are on. I do have a mini battery from buschur (only 2 years old) and a good amount of mods. Yesterday the car was having a VERY hard time cranking, and now it is barely cranking at all. I still get it started.

Any ideas?

The only problem I have in the winter is trying to keep my foot out of it. If its 40 or below, I hit fuel cut when giving her full boost. So I try not to go WOT in the winter.

You don't have a boost controller? I've brought mine back to 19 psi or so in the extreme cold.

I have the same problem. I think its a tuning issue
