That definitely sounds like a crappy day, sorry to hear.

 

I edited the original post and added pictures of what the tire looked like. Everything is good now. Sitting on some new Bridgestone POTENZA RE-01R and the thing is riding great. No damage to my BBS thank god!

anyone know what might have caused this. The guy at the shop I got my new tires at didn't think they were worn down too bad before this just by looking at the shape of the other 3 tires. He said they were in fairly decent condition with a good amount of tread. Thought the tire might have been defective and overheated. Any thoughts?

 

Send the pics to Falken and ask them. Perhaps there's a bad run of tires and/or known defects.

Pops works in tire manufacturing- this is a defective tire that should not have passed through quality control

is it just me or is the wheel in the background of the 2nd pic missing 2 lug nuts?!

 

it's missing one. like I said I'd lost the lug key and had to have the locks removed after the tire failed. So I had the lock taken off of each wheel to get replacements.

 

WTF kinda luck is that to happen? wow at least you didnt trash the car or yourself.
