Hitting objects in the road

ok awhile back a hit a possum...just kinda bent the rubber thingie on the bottom of my front bumper a bit....then today i hit a piece of 18 wheeler tire on the interstate....it broke some of the plastic where the rubber peice is connected...just wondering if anyone has gotten this stuff replaced before and how much did it cost?

I believe the undertray is like $170+ but you can find a used one for much cheaper. I also hit an 18 wheeler tire the 1st week I owned my Evo and it also broke the mounting points of the Zero lift kit. I simply reinstalled it without mounting it on the points that were broken. Post some pics of the damage if you can.

well the rubber part isn't damaged or the metal piece it screws into...it's the plastic parts that the metal piece is connected to behind the bumper...some of the plastic is broken off and a few of the plastic push lock things are stripped out or missing :/

The zero lift kit is screwed onto the undertray and I dont think you can buy it in pieces. The push locks arent expensive but how many of the mounting locations are actually broken? because you may be able to just keep your existing undertray if its not that bad.

just one or two i think,...like there is a gap about 2 inches where the plastic is hanging down from under the bumper...i can see the back of two or three push locks...i haven't jacked the car up or anything to look up under there good...i guess i'll take a closer look to see if i can do anything with it before i go to the dealer

If I were you, simply jack the car up and fix it. Its not that hard but those push locks can be a pain in the ***. I wouldn't waste my time with going to the dealer, they'll probably charge you an arm and a leg to fix it.

I think you should just try to fix what you have or if you really want, find a used undertray and just buy that and replace yours. I'm sure someone is selling theirs.

If he hit a blown 18 wheeler tire like I did, It didn't do much damage other than breaking some mounting points on the undertray and on my car it messed up some paint on the lip but I had my front bumper and hood repainted anyway so I could have the 3m clear bra installed with no rock chips.

I haven't hit anything yet. It's like those damned kids were taught how to dodge cars aimed at them or something...

I was driving on the highway one time behind a buddy of mine and he drove over a metal strip on the inside of a tire and it kicked up in the air and came down on my hood. It messed up the metal mesh in the front and bent my hood back a little bit. This happened on the way to getting a reflash! How exciting is that!
