Ebay Harness Bar?

So, i know "you get what you pay for" usually but has any one tried this harness bar?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...id=p2759.l1259

I was thinking about making my own since i am pretty handy in the machine shop. At the least it could be a good template if it is a piece of crap, lol. I asked what the main bar was made of and wall thickness. We'll see.

I just got the piece and love it. Get the one that was made just for our cars not that adjustable crap that will fit almost every car out there. My friend has been running it for couple years now and no problems.

Can you tell what the tube wall thickness is? Probably not too easily since the plugs are welded into each end, lol.

I don't think I'll be able to find that out for you. Most I can find out is what the tube diameter is

eBay & safety shouldn't really be used in the same sentence unless there's a well recognized brand in the mix.

Its a piece of metal bar, I don't see how terrible and dangerous it is to buy it from ebay. I for one don't get caught up in brand names. I go through review after review of anything and if it works it works, I'm not going to shell out extra dough for something that does the same thing except has "their name" on it. What about all the people who buy "ebay" rotors? (Rotorpros or whatever they are called). My initial reaction was hell no I wouldn't buy them but after some reviews and hearing actual experiences, I will probably consider them.

Unfortunately, it's not just "a piece of metal bar" that you're trusting your life with. You have NO idea what quality of metal it is, the wall thickness of this "piece of metal bar" for them to make it so cheap. I assure you that I would trust my life with a company like Sparco that is known for making MORE than just a "piece of metal bar" more than some smuck on Ebay trying to capitalize on people that aren't intelligent enough to distinguish the difference (yourself). There are just some things that you shouldn't skimp on...SAFETY being one of them. And no, i would rather stay stock than buy no name rotors from ebay.

Well I guess your one of those guys who will never "entrust" ur life with ebay products and thats absolutely fine with me, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I don't have the slightest worries about my safety being compromised as I told you before in my other post, I have done my research and after hearing the positive reviews of this bar from others who have been running it for years, I have no problem running this in my car.

do yourself a favor and put your own blood and sweat into your ride or buy one from some else who put some r&d into their product these people who make products like this are vampires who are sucking the life out of the companies who produce quality parts for quality cars

My reasoning wasn't necessarily because it is a no name brand but it's because the quality hasn't been tested. Sure a few people run it and have the past couple years but have they been in any sort of car accident or done any testing to see how strong they actually are?

I'm a huge fan of buying what's right for the price rather than a name but when it comes to safety it really is more than just a pipe with a few bends & welds. Maybe I'm paranoid but it's just not something I'd risk unless you were using a harness in conjunction with a seatbelt (which you most likely wouldn't.)

Thats why i asked the seller what the material and wallthickness is. I am actually an engineer so i know a few things about materials and mechanics of materials. I have also worked in a few job shops over the summers while in college and i can tell you there is no way a harness bar should cost 400+ dollars to make. Maybe i'll just pick one up for a template and go from there to make my own. Then when i'm done i can cut it apart and find out the materials used for the rest of you guys.

I'd never buy an ebay anything. Unless of course it was a used quality piece being sold. Ebay parts are cheaper because the materials and quality are cheaper...not really something I want in a harness bar.
