Are dyno runs hard on the car?

Somebody posted some pics of a blow diff recently and one of the pics showed the viscous coupling unit. This is a sealed unit buried deep in the diff. Looked like it would be big bucks to replace.

Seems to me like AWD dyno runs would be hard on the viscous coupling, especially if load on the front & back wasn't equal. Anybody heard of EVO drivetrain damage from AWD dynos?

I haven't heard of any problems yet, but I don't think it would be any more damaging than real life. It's not like a dyno run has you dropping or riding the clutch.

I suppose is one roller was damaged, there could be a problem, but the dyno is designed to demonstrate the road, and uses the same resistance the street would.

you will have problems with a awd dyno only if you are tuning/the dyno is trying to simlate normal driving/ make sure that you put a big fan on the front of the car to get the same air flow as driving would...
