Front seat belt anchor bolt size? Want to install eye bolts

I would like to know what the stock seat belt lower anchor bolts are on the EVO? Looking to replace the stock bolts with eye bolts to support my harness bar and attach snap ends to on my harness.

If anyone has bought such and such brand eye bolt from such and such a place or website, please leave that info so I can order some. Not looking for drill through the floor type, I just want some that thread directly into the factory bolt locations in the front seat belts, (not the rear seats if those are different threads)

If you check out this link you will see what this guy did in his Mazda for the side lap belts.

Take care my friend; if the hardware you are replacing isn't as strong as OEM you may be headed for trouble.

That is not a good idea at all. The factory bolt is torqued down to aprox. 80% of its tensile strength. This reduces the shear or bending moment when a side load is applied (ie you crash and your seatbelt does it's job) When you install the eye bolt and attach your harness to it you are asking for trouble. This connection is much more likely to bend and fail in the event of an crash. The mechanics of it are poor not to mention most seat belt hardware are grade 5 or higher. Think 80,000 psi tensile strength, most eye bolts you will find are just off the shelf A36 steel, around 30,000psi tensile strength. In other words, as an engineer, i would advise against this, lol.

It needs to be screwed in tight so the shoulder spreads any bending across the mounting surface. These rings are ubiquitous in racing and very safe.

I'm doubtful 7/16 is correct for a metric based car.

As a related bit, I gave up doing what the op wants because I could not find a ring large enough with a bolt the right dia. Or maybe it was small enough ring dia. for the belt latch.
So good luck.

That bolt posted in your link looks pretty stout, The eye bolts shown in the above link with the mazda look like they came from the hardware store.

Sometimes they put a lot more thought into the building of cars than what we give the manufacturer credit for

Bumping this up from the dead....

Purchased Schroth 6pt (and racing seat) and a Schroth 4point ASM harness (passenger). The included eyebolts in the kit (7/16s) will thread into both lap belt points. I'm not sure that the center console with an eyebolt installed can fit however.

the might have threaded in, but if they're not metric then they're not correct. the threads are likely close, but i'd get metric threads.
