05 Evo has a hard time starting

done my search all the way up to page 11 on the search bar.

i just had an alarm put in yesterday, and the shop said my car was having a hard time starting. i told them this was normal, because i have nitrous cams that doesnt like " hot start"......before the alarm install it would take about 2 cranks and my car would start IF the motor is hot.

now my car takes up to 20 mins of crancking or more before it starts, and thats if it even starts.i stop cranking after awhile because my battery i getting drained big time. i can smell fuel, haven't checked for sparks.but if the car starts, it runs fine , acts fine....,

i just got this car not too long ago from a little dealership and they dont fully know what was done to the car.
What i know:

has nitrous cams, apexi turbo timer, no cat, custom msd ignition.

i just want to know if anyone has ever ran into this kind of prob. i want to try to solve it before towing it to a shop.

thanks in advance

Please explain "no2 cams"? Is your car equipped with both no2 and cams, or just a hot cam someone told you was for nitrous?

Only other things I can think of are the transponder in the key interfering with the alarm letting the ECU start the car. Or the alarm is doing all of the harm.

Sounds more like they alarm people either shorted something or installed something wrong. If it worked before than, then your issue is somewhere there.

It would be wise to figure out exactly what you have in the car. I.e. which cams you have. The MSD ignition is also something not used on this car -- and nitrous...I follow the old rule. One power adder at a time. Turbo + nitrous can be an expensive venture. I sure hope its tuned for everything.

Wow that is weird. Something doesn't sound right if it used to start pretty easy and now it doesn't. I would think the shop did something...

If was working before, it should be working after the alarm install. Start by removing or disconnecting the alarm system and give it a go.

Sounds like it's a not properly tunned AEM EMS.
And stop winding for 20min or you'll be replacing the starter soon.

I agree with everyone else. Take the alarm off and go again.

I had this problem with my turbo DSM and discovered the vent hose from the valve cover was off the nipple at the turbo.

I would take it to a reputable tuner shop (which im sure you can find on here) and have them give that thing a once over. They can probably help you more than the "stealership"

I would def agree, try this before you go looking too deep for something that might not be there

I'm not much of an alarm expert but all of the cars I've had with them have pulled their juice from the battery. Weird.

Find a local tuner and they can prob diagnose this in like 15 mins and if it's trivial they'll prob not even charge you.
