Forget about the driver, Id feel bad for any passangers who would be sitting in the rear seat of your car if you get rear ended with that thing in your trunk.

You really think people are going to buy that thing for $300??? Your much better off and safer with a strutbrace that actually has engineering behind it.

With no rear crumple zone, your head/neck could easily be snapped. Or the dang thing could poke right into the rear seat compartment and impale and rear seat passenger.

good point, but i don't think that was IzenGrayEVO7's point. He was just talking about crumpling the body structure of the strut towers.

If I was very serious about course racing and began stripping the interior this rear bar setup would seem like an option.

I'm specifically talking about the dangers to the occupants. Screw damage to the car, it's all about the people walking away from the accident. With that bar in place that likelyhood goes down dramatically.

I will say this. There is a way to design this brace in such a way that it will not compromise safety in any way. You need to run some simulations and take some energy readings and do proper mechanical/structural engineering. I know my engineering partner and I can do it. This can be done, just not in the way it is currently being executed. If you're serious about making this part you should hire an engineering firm to do this for you.
