header cover
i thought i saw a header cover from one of the vendors... but now i can't seem to find it anymore... for some reason i thought it was from hks and it looked chromed or ss i can't remember.. has anybody seen this.... please tell me where i can find it.... thanks.
I haven't seen it, but I spent several hours today polishing the heat shield. First I painted it with high temp paint in silver. It was supposed to handle 1500 degrees, but after driving around trying to bake the finish on, it peeled off. Then I removed it again to peel off all the paint and noticed the underside was painted black but you could see the natural metal underneath.
I then proceeded to sand off the black paint with thinner. It took several hours, but I got it all off. Then I used Mothers aluminum polish and buffed it for a couple more hours and presto, it shines like a mirror. It looks sweet. I dont have a camera, so I can't post a pick. I know (no pics=lies), but under that nasty dull black paint is beautiful aluminum that CAN be polished to a mirror finish.

Yes, mine looks just like that. All it takes is some elbow grease. Remonve that dull black paint, and polish to a chrome-like shine with a good metal polish. And while you're at it, polish the upper intercooler pipe. It shines like chrome also.

Just polish the one you have. There's a pic above showing it. It may not look as good as the HKS, but it's a free mod, except for your time and polish, thinner, rags, sanding block.
