Anyone tried colorsanding?
I too am a little bit dissapointed with the paint quality of the Evo. Aside from the overspray which I can live with, there is some mild orange peel in some areas of the paint.
I was thinking about having the car colorsanded and buffed using a process described here:

I'm wondering if the paint is thick enough to withstand a mild colorsanding.

I don't think the paint is very thick. And of course no clear coat. You ought to be pretty careful and experiment on a spot that is inconspicuous. (I sure wish this board had a spelling checker - got my doubts about "inconspicuous")
after looking at the super thin paint flaking off the rear end of my car (from an accedent) i think you would hit metal pretty damn fast
too bad it costs like 5k to paint a car.. i'd do it on my own if i could,,

Never heard of colorsanding a car.... and the beggining steps sure sound alot like what they do after they paint the car.... they wet sand and buff the paint... lol this is usually what gets rid of the oraange peel....
Most factory paint jobs do not go through this type of process to my knowledge.
Any good paint shop should be able to do this for you when you get your car repainted.
