Repainting "CF" trim piece

My "CF" trim piece (last I heard it was just imitation) is starting to come off on some spots. I don't like that look at all. I decided to buy a spray on clear coat bottle and wondered if anyone tried to do this before. Should I just wet sand the old clear coat and then spray? Any success or horror stories about this?

sand it first with 600 grit then spray it with 3 thin coat of the clear(atleast 15 mins apart), take your time,,, then try to wet sand it with 1000 grit, wash it, dry it then apply some good wax and your done! enjoy

yea i took the lazy way out and just clear coated on top of the faded white clear coat...It looked great for 3 days and then started to fade as well. Now, it looks better than before still looks like ****. Sand it and then spray THIN coats first and then a medium coat.
