I don't know if the VIIIs and other versions came with this feature, but my Evo had a sheetmetal plate with slats in it underneath the hood vent. I have removed it for better engine bay venting and so I can see my lovely motor. I am just wondering if anyone has had issues doing this, in terms of rain water pooling or debris or anything like that. Any and all comments welcome.

 

other than making your engine bay look like crap It's probably fine.

 

My evo has been like that for years, no problems.
