What are you using to scan for the SRS codes?

Also Check the fuses and I am not sure about on evos but check to see if the seat belt buckles are connected, many cars unplug when you move the seat.

yeah, the first thing i checked was the seat belt buckle. i had the sensor in a buckle go out in my honda accord. the plug is secure, but the sensor might be going out. in my honda though, it kicked a code for it. i used an OBDII scan thing at advanced autoparts. no code for the SRS.

you cannot read srs codes with a cable and scantech as you can with ses lights. SRS lights require some kind of expensive machine that only smart people are allowed to use.... your gonna have to pay like 60 bucks to get it cleared most likely, at some body shop or dealer

btw, srs is your supplemental restraint system... your air bags, safety belts, crash sensors. any problems with these things is what throws the codes. I unplugged one of my front crash sensors while removing my headlights and didnt realize what it was. i started the car to see if the lights worked before i replugged the sensor and now i have a code. it sucks! someone should figure out how to check/clear these things

Did you unplug one of the yellow plugs without disconnecting the battery first?

Mine is on too. I tried to remove battery terminal and put back on but it still comes on. I think I know the reason behind it. I remove both pass front/rear doors and I had to unplug some connectors along the middle section so I think it's the culprit to the SRS light coming on. I'll check it again when I get the replacement doors on and everything connected.

I actually did unplug one of those yellow plugs withouth disconnecting the battery first. Does this damage the sensor, or do I just have to have the system reset? Is there anyway to reset the system myself since I know this is related to disconnecting the sensor?

Solution:

Pull out gauge cluster, flat black spray paint over SRS. Make sure you mask off your entire gauge cluster unless you want to paint over part of your rpm and mph.

Not a good idea as the SRS light being on may disable your airbags from deploying in a crash.

Most body shops will have a computer that can read/clear SRS system codes and charge you a lot less then the dealer would.
