After seeing 10 zillion pictures of EVO's at different rallies and meets over the weekend, why do they all look stock?

Cummon, make your EVO your own custom creation! If we all run the stock 17's, our cars are going to start looking a little trendy!!

Because the stock interior and exterior is more then good enough, and when people start upgrading these cars there are areas that yield more gains for the money. For example, why would someone spend $1500+ for new wheels/tires when for $1500 you could go to any decent tuner and get 300+ whp? I'd rather see Evo's setting records at the track then taking home trophies at shows.

Cummon here, I am not tryin gto be negative at all, just brainstorming. I dont know how else to tell the world that the Enkei 17's are fugly. Sorry.

I define trendy as seeing about 5-6 stock evo's per day, and they all look the same. thats all!

 

I think the stock Enkei look pretty good. When I had my Eclipse, I always wanted a set of Advan Model 6 and guess what, the stock Enkei's on the EVO look like the Model 6. I might be changing the rims later down the road for a set of 17x9 Advan Model 6 so I can go with some wider tires.

 

This car looks great stock, so I think people are going for the power mods first, then cosmetic. We already have upgraded parts right from the factory such as Enkeis, Brembos, great suspension. This car has not been on the road a year yet, give it some time. Did you ever see a Vette meet? It's a bunch of stock C5's in different colors. Talk about plain.

i know i dont have the money for the 17x9 rims i want so i'm going to powder coat my stockies bronze. something different that i don't think anyone else has done...::shrug::

 

Stock enkei looks fine to me.

 

I dunno there's a sort of Anti-Rice revolution going on and it seems to be centered around the STi And Evo. It seems to have originated in the WRX forums and spread to the STi and into the EVO.

Frankly, I think my car is fast enough, and the first mods ill get are probably engine mods that will total less than 1k. IE intake, exhaust, and turbo timer. Then Ill work on appearance and until i run out on my warranty will I start the bigger engine mods.

Well my point is, the current trend that ive been seeing is OMG THESE CARS ARE UBER PERFORMANCE cant touch the exterior!!! IT WOULD BE RICE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND PAMELA ANDERSON RICE!!!. But of course you can get evo 7 tailights cause the EVO 7 is RALLY and the lights are RALLY. I dunno, I find it all foolish. ACtually...perhaps the anti-rice movement proabbly originated from all the aussies on this board. Crazy aussies.

Besides, if you got the cash, then buy whatever you want. Just most people would like to make thier car go faster. Some even have took off thier wings to be al itlte more like a sleeper...but imho you arent foolin anyone. I feel if you got an evo, it has already ruled out rice because its just so fast already, theres no hurt in modding the exterior.

Just my rant cause I read this post and ive been thinking about this for a long time.

imho the majority of the people who bought the evo are more performance oriented than with the show type since the reason why people waited so long for this car is adrenaline rush that it gives and the challenge that it issues on higher top end cars i.e muscles and exotics. and from what i noticed with the majority evo owners is the maturity that they represent. but hey everybody has their own preferences and thats what makes each individual and their car different.with some people they are content with what the evo offers them so they take aesthetic approach of kits and paint jobs and to some it seems that there is not enough power so they take the performance road and starts modding the engine than the "looks" of the car.
as for me i prefer doing the "ommph" than the "oohs and aahs" since the evo came here watered down and full of restrictions like the boost and clutch. but hey,it doesnt matter what road you pick as long as its what you wanted to do. so have modding everybody.
