specifically NY/NY to GA/FL. If no one knows thats fine just curious. If anyone has ever ordered seats from an online vendor it'd be cool if you can let me know. I'm buying some MR seats of a member and I'm trying to get an idea of how much shipping will be....he doesn't know either.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum

If you have the dimensions and weight you can call the shipping carrier and get a quote (or maybe even do it on their website).

The shipper is checking tomorrow on how much it will be ship......I guess I was trying get a jump start on how much I'd need to purchase his seats. I went to CVR's site and pretended to buy a seat of Bride Vias (looks similar to the standard recaros.....looks liek shipping was 100 bux from them.....I kind of figured shipping would be around 150 to ship both of them....I was hoping it would be less.

I would say 150-200 depending on who ships it.

I would box them up and ship them via greyhound. I've shipped entire doors for $70 bucks and front bumpers for $40 from San Diego to New York.

I think seats will cost more than $150 mainly because I believe the dimensions of the box will make your average carrier use freight (UPS/FEDex)

Didn't know you can ship via Greyhound. Is it normally cheaper then FedEx/UPS/DHL for big ticket items? What is it about NY/NJ area htat makes shipping more expensive as the poster a few posts back indicated?

Yes, they have a service called Greyhound Package Express or something similar. The reason it's cheaper is because it goes on their Bus + the buyer has to physically show up to the Greyhound station to pick it up. As long as stuff is packaged correctly there is nothing to worry about.

They are best for big and heavy things. I mean I've sent a front bumper strictly covered in bubble wrap and it made it to NY without a scratch.

It makes things simpler because the Seller can drop it off and do COD so that when the buyer goes to pick it up they can just pay whatever shipping charges.

Also from what I understand DHL no longer ships within the US, only international stuff as of a few months ago but I could be wrong. And I have no idea what the previous poster was referring to.

I used to work for UPS. If you want to ship it out UPS ground, get precise measurements on each side. LxWxH. Of course it depends on distance as well. I say probably 200 for both with shipping and packaging. Packing is pretty expensive imo.

Greyhound sounds more desirable right now. I like the idea of COD as well. Thats perfect. ANy other cheaper methods?

Suggested it to the seller (as he was mentioning as well thru PM's). Def going to do that. I guess they let the shipper know when it will arrive and when the bus is here I just show up to the depo and pay the shipping costs.

Yeah the seller will leave a contact number for the station it's arriving to, to call once it gets there. That way you know when it arrives. It took about 4 days from Cali to NY so they are not slow at all.
