just get a 2.3 long block and call it a day and lesson, your lesson is just costing more.
it just sucks to happen in hard times like this.

Like others have said, it's not reasonable to think that any manufacturer would warranty a car with all those mods:

port/coat exhaust/intake mani & hotside | ported TB | coated SS O2 | Greddy Ti-C | DC sports DP | Forge MBC | Kelford 272 | 255 fuel pump | Supertech springs/retainers | 1000cc injectors | ARP head studs | TTP Tune

An analogy would be if you bought a ceiling fan, and modified it to be able to run a higher spin speed, and also changed out the fan blades to a lighter blade...would you expect the manufacturer to warranty it if the fan motor went out?

You are SOL buddy. You don't bring a blown up modded car back to the dealer man. You tow it home, remove all the stuff and then bring it in...your tune coulda been bad any number of things could of happened. It doesn't matter if you think your mods didn't cause it because they have the right to void you and that's pretty much end of story. A new shortblock is not that expensive.

Your 8000 price tag is quoted by a dealer. Bring it to a reputable tuner shop and put in a new block should be less than 2K after everything is done.

The worst thing you could do right now is try and have the dealer fix it. Use your head man.

I ould say you were ok until you opened the head up....Game over. I had a type R motor in my hatch with Toda Cams....everything was fine for a few months then while driving my mother to work....BOOM. Cams locked up, timing belt sheared teeth, valve meet piston in #2 Cylinder...it was a wrap, Toda, highly qualified Honda mechanics couldn't figure it out. I wasn't the only one who had this issue either.

Did you do the cam install, did you toon the car.....the only reason to do springs and retainers is if you are reving the car past factory limit or you hae really heavy duty cams in there (alka not a mild cam).

You're screwed....plan for a rebuild, new motor, 2.3 shortblock. If you have been a member her for a while you would see the numerous threads about people trying to get even the most legitimate warranty claim turned around, Mitsu will void your warranty for having an exhaust half the time.

Since the car is modded, I don't think they will cover it.

Good luck though.

+1

Mitsubishi voided my warranty because I farted in my car! Don't expect to have them cover your modded engine.

This, you modded the car well beyond a simple exhaust and a tune. You cannot reasonably expect Mitsubishi to cover a problem that likely was the result of the mods, not their product. If it was a legitimate engine issue from the factory, I doubt it would last 30000 miles without any issues. All the people who are saying you should have lied and scammed Mitsubishi are why legitimate claims are denied and why tuners have such a bad reputation as far as companies are concerned. Nothing like someone ****ing up and then trying to act innocent.

looks like ur SOL trying to get it covered under warranty...NO dealer would replace it especially with all those mods.

time to get a built 2.0 or stroker time.
good luck with it.

No they don't, the car is heavily modified and isn't even close to the same car they agreed to warranty. They don't have to provide evidence, the fact the engine is modified to the extent it is is enough.

Yeah, tell that the the 3 high-priced lawyers Mitsu will assign to the case.

It's a no-win situation for the OP. He modded his car. His car took a crap. The OP has to pay.

If he wants to go after anyone, he should go after whomever installed the parts, or go after the manufacturer of the parts (assuming you can identify which part failed) or whomever did the tune. Either one of them is the culprit. Not Mitsu.

The guy sounds kinda clueless to be honest man. Not to be a dick or anything but were you running untuned?

When I first bought the car I went to the service department and asked them to list out what mods I could do without voiding. They basically told me anything beyond the intake, exhaust, down pipe and I would be pushing my luck.

You have cams, you ported stuff, cmon now...
