I have a 67 Camaro with a Sparco Torino that gives me the same problem. Consider using spacers on the front mounts to raise the seat under the knees.

I don't have the problem in a Lancer, I'm 6'5" / 180 but the recaros fit ok in that area. They are a little too wide for my *** though. I need to trade with some fat Japanese guy that has the skinny jdm Recaros.

HAHAAHA! Good luck on those JDMs.

If I decide to go with the car I will probably look into some kind of spacer system first to see if I can raise the front. Otherwise I'll just continue my search for new seat brackets.

I bought new longer grade 8 allen bolts from Lowes and a stack of washers to modify the front seat mounts. The front of my seat now sits higher than stock and provides much better thigh support on long trips. I highly recommend the mod.

Guys wait a few .... I did lower my seats and just waiting for a good manufacturing price for the new seat lowered seat brackets.

I did lower all of the OEM brackets and it is so much better driving stance and positioning.

As of now lowering the brackets will cost $250 and I am trying really hard to get a fabricator locally bid on a better pricing.

I know in Asia I can get that done for a whole lot cheaper than $250..

Hang in there folks...

I will post pictures on our forum on the seat brackets on my car..

cheers

As long as you are not much above 6'4", my modification/solution costs <$10

Here is an option you can go with but not needed ...

You can always install spacers on the front rails and get a longer allen head bolt from Home Depot or Lowes or your local hardware.

This option that we did in the shop lowers all the seats and gives you a Touring car feel and positions you lower inside the vehicle.

Not for everyone I say but again an option for others that want it.

cheers

Awesome!

Gino, so this lowers the seat about TWO inches you said? That would be perfect to use in conjunction with a front spacer for added headroom AND better thigh support. Any idea on when these brackets may become available?

Thanks!

That's awesome!

This could be the thing that really seals the deal for me on the EVO!

One thing I noticed on the Evo test drive was how the driver's seat sits lower towards the rear than the front part of it. Made me feel a bit like I was sitting sunken into it. Look at it even compared to the passenger seat which is much more level a seating surface.

It felt odd to me because I'm used to regular car seating surfaces, not a gripping performance bucket seat like the Evo's Recaros.

That said it was definitely very grippy. I'm 6'1" and ~150lbs, so I had enough headroom but at first I was wishing the seat's rear area could be raised and leveled out a bit, but after a while I got used to it.

JRock.

You're crazy. I want just the opposite, i want the front of my seat higher and the back even lower, thigh support man, its lovely. especially nice on longer drives and track events where fatigue is an issue.

Hi Gino,

Any updates on this? The racing season is approaching and I need a little more head room for helmet clearance (I'm 6'4").

I appreciate the suggestion about the washers and longer bolts. I'm 5'9 and like as high a seating position as I can get. I have no trouble with the Lancer that has the seat cushion adjusting knob but the Evo seat cushion angle just doesn't do it for me. I bet with some experimenting I can find the right combination of washers front and back to get it just right. Thanks again.

I have the lowered seat rails and have sold over 20 of them already. Just let me know if you want one.

I need your old rails as well so I can make more.

Thank you
