flush front license plate mount
when i got my evo8 i just unbolted and removed the front license plate mount. here in missouri you have to have one. i pass cops all day, and they don't even turn their heads.
i'm even looking to get an evo9 front bumper that is undrilled..
wishful thinking that i won't eventually get pulled over and get a citation.. oh well.

Here is Maryland they are ***** for dumb stuff like no front plates or exhaust or tint. I used to not have the front plate on my wrx because it blocked a good part of my fmic. I ended up getting pulled over like 3 times for it.
I like op's mount. I might have to get me one.

Unless you've done something really, really stupid chances are good that cops could care less about you not having front plates - there are A LOT of patrol cars in Seattle and especially near the Southcenter/Seatac Mall area. I've parked practically everywhere legal you could think off - sidewalks, garages, lots, timed slots downtown Seattle, etc, etc... - zero issues since I've owned my evo

Love the idea, looks great! Props for originality.
You can also mod the stock plate holder to look very similar. Did it on my girlfriends old EVO. A little cutting and bending went a long way.

I wouldn't have mounted it this way or any other except that the dealer I bought it from drilled 3 mongo sized half inch holes to put the rubber nutserts in for mounting the OEM plate bracket. So I thought I'd try a slimmer approach to how it looks. The OEM mount isn't too bad either. The dealer told me they had to mount them ever since one customer came back on them for NOT mounting the plate so the dealership should pay his ticket. I work in parts at a dealer and we get people in about 3 a month wanting a plate so they don't get a 2nd or even a 3rd ticket.
In Oregon they have been cracking down on front plates probably due to the camera's placed at various intersections to get people running red lights.
Thanks for the input to my post guys. I do like the bracket idea to the underside horizontal portion of the bumper cover! If I didn't already have the huge holes that's how I'd want to do it. Bumperplugs.com said they couldn't get me plugs in this half inch size either. I know it could be done but they felt it was sooo ugly they didn't want anything to do with it. Must have had bad experience with other customers when it comes to plugs that are too big, too noticeable.

It is drilled into the bumper. My car had 2 half inch size holes drilled in it about 1.5 inches directly above where you see the screws on the plate on this yellow 8 just 2 posts up. So this mount covers up those holes although I did have to drill 2 new ones (much smaller) just underneath where the larger holes were drilled by my dealer when put on the lot.
In the picture of this plate mount Porsche p/n 997-701-107-00-01C, I put in a round rubber spacer gasket to take up some space between the mount and the painted bumper cover. I didn't want the round hard plastic making direct contact with the bumper. Without the spacers it would look strange if you got down for a closer look. With spacers the mount conforms to the slight bumper contour much better. The spacers are spongy enough to act like a gasket, they are hard rubber. I bought 2 versions, can't remember which I used but they are cheap. Get 2 of the 914-571-903-10 and 2 of the 999-025-235-40 and some screws and you got everything you need.
Back side, rubber spacers go right into these circular spots

Front side, screws fit a bit inside the mount so they don't hit the license plate when mounted.

Sorry I don't have the exact part numbers of the rubber spacers I did you. I'm going to order more and will find out Monday which I did use. Let me know if interested and I'll let you know which they are. Mount should run 13.00, 2 spacers at 1.00 ea, 2 others at 2.00 each. Thanks, guys.

What you say is interesting here because I have been pulled over in those areas in the past for not having a front license plate. And NO I was not doing anything stupid. Mostly just cruising around all of a sudden BAM lights behind me and warnings for not having a front license plate. I also asked the officers about rigging up the license plate to the visor like you have done and they told me if they saw that you WILL get pulled over. They give me the same story every single time.....your front plate needs to be physically on the front bumper or you will get pulled over.
Seattle has some lame cops and this is an easy way for the state to get money and tag fines on us....To the OP I love that set up you got! where did you get it?
I work at a Porsche dealer in the parts dept. I sell these mounts all the time to people with the no plate tickets in their hands. The part numbers are above a couple posts but now I have the exact round rubber spacer p/n to use. 2 of the 914-571-903-10 and the plate mount is all you have to get. Thanks, glad you like it.
