Turbo Timers and Dead Batterys o my!

Is this a common occurence, to have a TT and then at some point get a dead battery?

I got my evo at 38000 miles, has 55k now. Has run perfect till Saturday. Well, Wednesday I used the evo to jump my daily driver. then the evo sat in the driveway till saturday. ran good saturday until saturday night. went to start it, didnt want to start, got it 2 min down the road and shut off. wouldnt turn back on. after the 3rd jump on trying to get it home, we disconnected the turbo timer and the last jump carried it home.

The TT has been in since 52 or 53k miles. i looked at some threads and read ppl with the same problems had a tt, i know its a common mod but didnt know if it had anything to do with the car taking a ****.

at any rate, they came with a flatbed today and took it to the shop. im just glad ****s breaking on it now and not 5 thousand miles from now when bye byee warranty.

i plugged the tt back in and just didnt say anything about it, let me know of all your thoughts/opinions

It almost sounds like your alternator took a crap on you.

That sounds like an alternator problem. Once the car is running, it doesn't use the battery any longer - power is supplied by the alternator. I'd take the car to a Auto Parts store or a Service center and get an Alternator test - most do the test for free.

It does sound like a alter. issue...

I am still so clueless why so many ppl get turbo timers.... I mean of course after the craze of turbochargers where leaving your car on was such a cool factor, but not now a days.

I'm not flaming you, I just don't understand on coolant cooled turbos, do we really beat on it so much and just shut the car off? I mean if it was totaly necessary for warranty purposes it would be factory. I don't even use my HKS one in my VW anymore for yrs... I actualy find it annoying.

Good points... it's not even a factory option / accessory! And you know they are always looking for ways to gouge us!

I see your point for DD cars. But for me, I live in Germany with the military and have done a few laps around the famed Nurburgring. trust me. after 3 laps around that place and then going down pit lane (trying to keep out of the way of traffic), you want a TT to help let the turbo, coolant, and oil cool down.

ON TOPIC: still sounds like an Alternator problem. Any updates O.P.?

thanks for your input guys. they towed it away to the dealership yesterday. they should be looking at it today and i'll find out

yeah, my evo isnt my dd, so when i'm driving it im usually catching up for when i missed driving it. so i'll consider the tt a wise investment, unless this **** keeps happening

on a good note, mitsu roadside assitance covers any car 5 years or newer, dont matter how many miles, so the tow to the dealership was free. after that my plan w progressive is $3 more a month to have roadside, well worth it if u ask me

factory warranty should still be good? i have an intake, tb and thats basically it but i had it in before to get a new tie rod end and they didnt say anything. cant WAIT to get it back

Probably hurt the alternator (or fuse for it if there is one on the Evo) when jumping the other car.

How could a turbo timer have anything to do with your situation. Like everyone else said its an alternator issue if the car wont stay on or run after the battery is disconnected.
