my 5 week nightmare (ny tristate beware)

about 5 weeks ago i decided to prepare myself for the dsm/evo showdown @ etown , knowing that the techs at etown are picky , i decided to atleast have a custom 6-point roll cage installed , with swingouts. my 3 day project has lasted 5 weeks, which is what has led me to reveale my thoughts on the proces with the shop who was doing the cage. i first received a call about 3 days later when the car was suppose to be done, to inform me that the shop that was handeling the matter was very busy and it was going to be about another week , i agreed. when the job was finally done what i got was straight garbage . the utter shock at what had been done to my car had left me disgusted and ill feel.

i did not approve of the work that was done and asked to have it re-done,at the time, time was no longer an issue as i decided at that moment that i will not be making the event , i took the car home over night and while sitting in the back seat which was a pain to get into , i come to find out that the rear doors would not be able to be opened from inside the car . i then decided to take the day off from work the following day and bring the car back to the shop as i was totally disatisfied with the work done to my car . the shop agreed to fix the issue at my expense aka they were not going to "eat" the total cost. during the time i changed insurance companies and i needed to have the car photo inspected in order to retain full coverage , i then informed the shop i need my car by set date . 3 weeks after i finally receive my car with a big kicker , the shop wanted $1,000 on top of the original $1,625 that i had paid , playing things smart i called the police had them meet me at the location and lol i still had to come out with $700 out of pocket , i have every intention of having my lawyer take this matter with civil court , i am sure that there are details that i am leaving out , but at the end of the day ,

ive seen this shops work , they do great work , the fact that they rushed my cage and gave me pure garbage is incredible , this shop has no professionalism , i went up there 4 times during the whole ordeal to see my car there doing nothing , waiting 3 weeks on some swing out pieces , the way i was treated in no way should be the way a customer is treated , avoiding calls and emails .

the following pictures speak much much louder then words .

after 5 weeks , it was re done to an acceptable level , the fact that the cage was not done like this in the 1st place is mind bogling

thought and opinions ,

I really still can't believe NRG tech did that to your car. 5 weeks for a cage?!?!

You shouldn't have had to pay diddly squat since they did a half **** job in the first place.

Well the 1st setup is NASTY.. Who would set the hoop all the way in the back seat?? you wouldnt even be able to get the door open from inside if you even fit in the back seat.. I dont know the going rate for cages but we get 6pts done here properly for 1200.00.. Most of them you cant even see the cage in the car which is what should be done for a street car.. I dont build cages so i cant understand their reasoning behind it other than maybe it was just easier to weld the way they did it the 1st time...

damn man. that sucks. they completely hacked the cage work. and for them to charge you for there crap a#$ mistakes is totally uncalled for. ESPECIALLY making you wait 5 weeks for a 3 day job. i would never go there again if i was you. your better off picking up a pre made cage at Wal*Mart ''if they sold them'' next time.

at least it is someone ''fixed'' and the back seats are a little more useable.

That is REDICULOUS!!! I can't believe they expected you to pay additional $$$ after they gave you a cage that looked like the first pictures. Plus the fact that they told you the cage would of been done before the etown event then it took multiple weeks after that!

My car is going to get a cage next season and because of this I don't think i'll be going there.

this is a sad day for a true evo member, As i remember his telling the shop this cage is for a street car. I seen the car in person the first time i was very upset with the way the cage was done. And for someone to pay 700 bucks out of pocket ticks me off knowing he's not at fault.

Im very sad to see the outcome of this, I hope NRG will solve this matter the right way.

Who wants to sit in the back seat with a steel bar threatening to kiss them in the face if you have an accident... Roll cages come with conequences and a proper one should mean...no back seats.

First off why would a shop build a cage thats not freaking legal.main hoop needs to be no more then 6" from drivers helmet not a foot away. That harness bar is too far back.Thats why i cant mess with these new shops for chassis work.My chassis place has been around for 30 years and any work they do is made for maximum safety and made to nhra specs.Hey they built my 25.1 cert toyota (can run up to 6.0's) and it passed with flying colors.seriously with that first roll bar geno(tech guy@etown)would of laughed at you.

Man, that's unfortunate!

So you agreed to pay additional money to have them fix it? Did they give you a ballpark figure before they started working on your car again?

How did the police negotiate the price down? What did they say?

I hope it all works out for you.

Troof! I took my back seats out and I threw harnesses in mine. Its the only way, dont risk crushing someones face in if you get intoa bit of trouble
