I know this thread was closed but I just joined this forum and just had to add my two cents about this topic.
Cent #1: Coming out with an evo in japan rated at 300hp would violate the bachelor agreement in japan between their automakers that they wont rate any of their performance cars over 280hp. Therefore the evo8.5 rumor is stupid. Cent #2: The JDM evos already produce well over 300hp, they're just not rated that high because of the bachelor agreement. Numbers on the JDM evo VIII are closer to 320hp. You can even buy one of these evos from www.importevolution.com. Anyway, thats my 2 cents, peace.

Did we forget about the FQ-300? It is all dependant on where you live, on what kind of Evo you can get. There's no need for an 8.5 in Japan. They have everything there already. Nothing will change until the Evo 9, or something else comes out.
