Using slightly old oil?

I have 3 jugs of Mobil1 10w-30 sitting in my garage that each had just over a half quart of oil left in them, theyre each between 2-4 months old. I combined each jug into one jug and I was going to change my oil tomorrow and use that left over oil, plus go buy another few quarts to complete the change.

My question is, is it bad to use oil thats been sitting around for a while after being opened and then re-sealed for a few months? The oil is pretty normal caramel color. My concern though is any moisture that may have been in the jugs from the air being locked in after I put the cap back on, or possibly causing the additives to degrade Any input??

2-4 months is not an issue so go right ahead and use it.

Personally I wouldn't use it. I'm protective about everything with my evo. Engine oil after being run in an engine gathers so much dirt from the enigne in the matter of minutes. 2-4 months of dirty oil is not something I would want in my engine. The car would be fine and run fine, you wouldn't notice a difference, it won't hurt anything, you can use it with no problem, but like I said I wouldn't do it. I would save it for when you need to top off the oil or something.

Wordddd, thats why I asked because Im the same way as you I dont even want there to be a slight risk of damaging anything. The oil isnt dirty though that Id be using, it was just left over from only using 4.7qts out of the 5.2qts in the jug.

...and off topic but I dont wanna make a new thread on this.

If the fuel light were to come on, how many gallons would be left in the tank?

And before someone makes a snide remark as to how the world is going to end when the fuel pump explodes and maim innocent women and children because I let the tank get so low that the light has to come on, chill. Im just wondering, I havent had the light come on yet. No women and children will be hurt.

2-3 gallons of gas is what I came up with some quick research. Never had my gauge below a 1/4 tank. That is solely based on another forum.

It won't explode but there have been times when Walbros have burnt out as a result of low fuel! You take your chances I guess...

Yup, I'm on #2 and I barely ever let my car drop below 1/4.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Oil is not hydrophilic, like brake fluid, as long as the jugs do not have dirt in them - fine to use.

it is fine to use the oil if it has been properly sealed.
