Never buy a car you can't personally inspect. Keep your X and modify it the way you want.

I passed with catless exhaust. What you will need is a primary and maybe even a secondary non-fouler. You can get them at your local Auto Zone for cheap. They go on your test pipe and I believe right on/near your rear o2 sensor.
No need for an anti-fouler plug for any of your O2 sensors....just disable them in the ECU. If I'm speaking greek then this isn;t the car for you.

Personally I think nothing beats OEM reliability which is what you have in your current evo. If you don't want your note and this will make it easier on you financially I can see why you'd want to do it but most stroker motors I've seen at some point require a little more TLC then OEM factory built ones. The issues you can come across with such a heavily built car with no experience may overwhlem you.

I would leave it alone...if you just like the body style of the older Evo's more (who could blame you :P) then get a close to stock one (although finding one that is truly stock is probably harder then finding a girl over 21 thats a virgin, most lie and say they are or only have had a few experiences....just like Use Evo's.....most owners will say its stock but that doesn't mean it was before it was sold).

If you can afford the note.....keep your car.

If OP has tons of money to waste, sure... trade for the modded car. I PERSONALLY would never touch a fully built car, unless they are giving it away. The X is a true tuner platform just like its predecessors.

I say contact AMS, you can have them build your X to something that resembles RyanGate's Time Attack EvoX. Dump about $6K just for performance mods to net 400whp or around $12K into it if you want a mild showcar. That's how I'd do it.

No. Do not do this.

If you want a fully built 8, you need to do it yourself (with a tune shop). There is no knowing what that car has been through, but you can bet your X that it's been pounded into the ground. No one puts those kind of mods on and drives it around town. You have a car that has been through hell and back and has probably spent a majority of it's life in the 5-8k RPM range.

I don't think you know what you're getting yourself into. Those mods require higher maintenance. There is a common known rule around these forums... "If it has mods, it decreases value on the car". If you plan on only racing that car, then you can consider it, but only WITH money for your X.

Those mods are decent mods, but you're looking at some high upkeep man. Expect it to break.

Man that thing is way too modded. No offense but the outside isn't all that. You can put an ets turbo kit on your X with stock internals and have a blast! I love my IX but the X is really growing on me. A nice turbo kit, bolt ons, and sick rims and you are set.

Are there any other VIIIs or IXs that you are interested in? Post it up here.

Yah, you can put a FP Red on with intercooler, hard pipes, turbo back, injectors and make over 420whp... and probably lose a lot less money . Not that I like to use this example, but ever thought about your warranty? Non existent with the VIII (especially in that condition).

If this was me there's no way I would trade a X for a modified 8

I love both cars....

FWIW, I'd never buy an Evo or any other high performance car used. You never know what the car has been through and like others have said, a car like this is not driven like my grandma would drive it. It gets beat up. Keep your X and mod that. From your sig, it looks like you already have a plan lined up. Stick to that. It's a much better feeling to do all this stuff yourself as opposed to just getting one that's already done...granted I've never modded a car before, but the same thing can be said about anything (such as putting together a desk as opposed to having it assembled for you ).

umm disabling the 02 in the ECU will fail inspection if ur state requires all the monitors to be ready cause with it disabled in the ECU it will read monitor not ready.

Skylineracer is right about his post above mine.

Disabling the o2 in the ECU will cause you to not fail or pass the inspection...The Inspection Station's computer will not be able to read your car. How do I know this? I did that route. When I got up there, it's true my CEL was off but when I disabled the ECU, it threw out all other codes to the car too thus rendering the ECU unreadable by the Inspection Station computer.

You need the non-foulers to pass emissions with catless tbe. I just passed my emissions less than a month ago with catless tbe...

Thanks everyone. This has been really helpful.

Original plan was to get an ETS turbo kit and upgrade the IC and IC piping along with a fuel pump and bigger injectors. Lighter rims and a lot of weight loss by gutting out dead weight.

Looks like I'm sticking to it
