600 hp evo project ( need help)

Hey everyone ,

I'll be starting a project to fully build a powerful daily driven evo 9 but the goal is to hit 600 awhp .... that's on pump gas ( probably 93 US octane )

I know that 600 hp on 95 octane ( US 93 octane ) is really hard to reach , but I've seen 560 and even 580 hp street evos running on even lower octane pump gas 92 or so ...

Anyway the car will definitely have a stroker engine , it'll have the AMS 950r turbo kit , 280 cams, custom transmission and t-case and a lot of other stuff..

I still didn't make my mind whether to build the engine or get a crate motor , if I'll build it I was thinking about the BC 2.4 L evo 9 stroker kit if I'm gonna get a crate engine it's going to be AMS's 2.3L RR engine.

So can anyone tell me which will be better at giving me as much power as I can get from pump gas ?

And I know that both AMS and BC are very good if not the best at what they do , but I can't make up my mind yet...

but I think that getting a complete engine from AMS is a good idea since it'll have the best quality in everything so I won't have any issues with gaskets or anything like that , but still a 2.4 engine is a bigger and a bit more power one than a 2.3 ...

so I'd appreciate anyone who can help...

The US uses the RON + MON/2 method to determine the octane of gasoline.
93 here, could very well be 95 in Egypt, although I cannot say for sure.

To reach your hp goals on straight pump, if possible, I recommend as much displacement as possible.

yeah I know about the octane thing and I think that 95 in Egypt is equivalent to your 93 or premium gas...

If your looking to make that much power then your gonna have to consider some things.

1) 2.3 or 2.4 ( which I believe you have made that decission.)

2) which gas via 93 or 94 octain which ever is available

3) turbo setup. which to make that much power 35r or 37r will prob do it with ease.

4) engine management, are you gonna use stock ecu, aem etc.

5) trans

6) clutch

7) what size injecotors will give you what you need to get to your goals.

8) meth, are you interested in running meth with this setup.

9) and the most important factor in all of this how much money do you have to spend on this all?

To build something like this isnt cheap as you know. but like the old saying goes you got to pay to play. now a 600 whp is always fun, but things you need to understand is the car is gonna be laggy in some since. I'm sure right now if its like other evo's it is on a stock turbo and its pretty fun to drive spool up is instant. Remember larger turbo's will have some sort of lag to them, but with the way they are designed and are put together, it is getting better. I hope this helps you shed some light on your goal.

I say 2.4 so you can rev it. 2.4's have a more optimal rod/stroke design to rev higher than the 2.3 while still spooling turbos nice and quick plus fat low end torque compared to 2.0. Big turbos don't have much power till up top so it's nice if you can rev a little more to extend the fat part of the power band as much as you can.

I've been seeing some nice results for a good price from the precision 6262. With the goals you have in mind a 2.4 with a 6262 properly equipped should do nicely.

First of all I nearly have everything the car need in mind it's gonna be fully loaded , with double clutch , proper tranny and t-case , exhaust , ecu , everything... I just didn't want to make you feel bored with all the details ...

And money is not an issue at all , if it was an issue I wouldn't have started that project anyway..

But what I don't get is that everybody is leaning towards the 2.4 stroker rather than the completely built 2.3 engine... although I didn't see that much of a difference in the dyno sheets between the two of them ...but still I've seen much more 2.3 strokers than 2.4 ones and they're reliable for a fact...

As for meth injection... not sure really because of it's availability here... but maybe Nitrous oxide if I'll put anything in there.....

Oh and as for the turbo lag ... I'm willing to live with it as long as it gives me the power I want when I want it....
