Are turbos matched with engines via serial #'s?

I am very curious as to if evo turbos are marked with either vin/serial matching to the car? The reason i ask, is because i have an 8 and wanted to upgrade to a 9 turbo. I still have a 100k factory drivetrain warranty....anyone?

To give a better answer than just "no". The answer to your question is that no, the turbos are not matched by a serial number to the car's serial number. If you want to upgrade to a 9 turbo I don't see any reason why you couldn't, does the drivetrain warranty even apply to what your talking about? I would not do it if your talking about an engine warranty, but as far as drivetrain don't really think that matters here.

All you really need is the IX's J pipe lines fit with minor tweaking

+1 on this, there's no need to spend the extra money on the whole kit when you can just bend the other lines a tad and will work just fine
