All these threads about 7s including my own are making re think the 8. Talking to an importer tomorrow
I'd like to know how big of a difference there is in handling between the 7s and 8s (good or bad?).

Been considering doing something like the above.
RHD is cool but can be a pain when trying to pass on a single lane road. After assembling and driving a host of cars including JDM Soarers, Supras, GTiR, EVO 3,4,7, and multiple Skylines....I'd say put your money toward an R32 or R33 GTR.
Always a good idea to actually drive a backwards car in the US to see the downfalls. One of the fun things is to go to the other side window at Checkers. Usually throws the person at the register off. Also had some fun putting a fake steering wheel on the normal drivers side. Throw a racing helmet on a buddy Backwards
and prepare for some funny looks from unknowing drivers.
As far as going the 100% legit way, you would need US Spec crash beams, emissions for sure, and likely a whole host of other wacky US stuff. Easy? No.
You can't do this. A Registered Importer does and will likely charge you a huge fee for their services. Needs to be under contract before the importation. With the lame US dollar, the JPY price of the car may be high too. You will be charged an import tax too.
My recommendation, mainly because you won't find much information anywhere (people won't say too much as it interferes with their businesses) would be to start researching regulations. That's about as much information as I will put forth. The rest is up to you!
Cheaper legal option? Buy an EVO VII front clip (minus engine if possible). The hardest part will be replacing the firewall. Just like that you have your desired originality.
On a side note, your reason for wanting one "not waning to be like the emo kid drivers" really does not make it worth the while. Having a near identical car to an VIII with the seat on the other side won't really change much. Whatever stereotype you don't want to fall under won't change. If you want to stand out, build a badass car or get something that no one else has.
I believe the latch needs to be modified a bit according to the above thread link.

thanks to all who have been productive in trying to give me the best answers to my question, unlike ones who wanted me to change a evo 8 into a 7 look alike. It is appreciated.
