Seat Re-Upholstry - swapable?

I've got an upholstry shop ordering new black material for the hole in my driver seat bottom (03 Evo 8). Was wondering if anyone knew if the passenger seat could be swapped over to the driver (seat belt swap, and if the bolt holes are not offset such that a swap wouldn't be possible).

I'd like that option rather than taking both seats out and taking the backs off to get the bottom covers out (I would potentially swap the passenger cover with the driver while the upholster shop is doing the work...

Thanks in advance

I believe so but you'll have to take apart most of the seats.

The recliner knobs are on opposite sides, other than that though they're swappable (the mounting brackets need to stay where they are though).

Thanks, the Factory manual looks like the seat belt is attached to the seat, which would be a problem possibly. I think it will require me to remove both seats, both seat backs both bottom seat covers. Swap the passenger to the driver while I have the driver replaced.

As far as cost - the upholstry shop I've always gone to is ordering the material and I'm guessing 150 total for the job. I'll let you guys know the results.

Thanks

Sell what you have now and use that to get evo9 front seats. Did you follow up on the recall about the seat bolsters for these recaro's?

What he said - mount the passenger seat to the driver side bracket.

So I took the seat out of the car this weekend. The seat cover is simply attached to the seat with long plastic hook piece the length of each side. Didn't seem too bad at all. Then the problem showed itself. To get the sides unhooked, one needs to remove the rails (rail prevents you from unhooking it as it traps it in a way). No biggie I think, so I get my allen driver set out and try to get the allen socket cap screws out. I can tell right away, these suckers are in good - probably in with loc-tite. Sure enough, I rounded the first one. I try on a second one, this time, tapping with a hammer to try to break the loc-tite. No dice, it starts to round as well.

So, I'm at the point of cutting a slots and trying that on the ones I've rounded before grinding the heads off. I'm going to try applying heat to the others. And hence my big question. What size are these screws?

I went to our local ACE and rummaged through the bins. I *think* they are M8x1.25 screws so I picked up one. BUT...

If anyone can find out the thread size of these for me, I'd be greatful. Else I have to wait for the weekend to get the rails off and thus the seat cover out. If I know the screw size, I can pick up a full set, get the cover out and reinstall the seat for driving to work.

These are the screws under the rails (next to the item 10 number)...
