I have the Apexi pen type turbo timer. I have had it for 4 years now and it's still working the same as when I bought it brand new. It's easy to program and install. It's size makes it easier to find a place to put it. Overall I'm happy with my purchase and I'm sure you would be too if you chose to buy one.

...18 turbo cars laters and I definately found no need to have turbo timers anymore. Thje mith is over, I never had a turbo failure by"overheating" or cooking the bearings or oil lines before shuting down the turbo.

I would admit though, a turbo timer is a nice device to have but not necessary at all. Despite all that, last time I had a turbo timer on my WRX it was absiolutely incompatible with my door locking and alarm system. I always had to stay next to the car until the turbo timer was turned off in order to activate my alarm.. no thanks!

I sought out the Apexi too for its size and easy mount-ability. They all do the same thing really (well some dont have the auto feature or extra un-needed readings) but the small apexi I just thought would be tons easier to install than the big brick like GReady.

PS- Mine is also amber like the dash, so it blends in nicely.

You definitely have more turbo experience than I do as this is my 3rd, but this is something that protects over time... not something that will (likely) just happen one day when you turn the car of after driving hard. I blew one of my turbos in my Audi S4 2.7T. After further inspection of the oil lines, they looked like the arteries of someone who just had a heat attack. I wasnt the original owner, but the car always used synthetic and treated fairly well, but no TT. Im not saying this would not have happened anyway, but the rapid cooling of the oil lines could not have helped.

I guess my point is, even if you dont have a TT, one should atleast let the engine idle for a couple of minutes before shutting down.

i think you would be wasting gas and money by getting a turbo timer because chances are youre not running the crap out of your car right when youre about to turn the car off

My HKS type 0 I have hooked up so that it only works if the E brake is pulled up (obviously car left in neutral being a manual). The remote key lock works fine. If Im in a hurry I can pull up, leave car parked in neutral with E brake, lock it as I leave and it cools down. It doubles as a digital battery voltage display gauge. Do you need it? Probably not. Do you always have an extra minute to let the car cool down before turning it off? Probably not.

I like the hks type 0

http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=843&rsku=0

I had it on my sentra. I liked it because it digitally displayed info like RPM, speed, batt voltage, etc.

its pretty nifty and I got it for a good price used.

I have the apexi, and has been working flawlessy for 2 years now...

But like has been said, its not really necessary, as long as you dont boost for a few min before you reach your destination, or let it sit for a few if you have...
